NIDO Master Results

What a great day last Saturday was in Newry for the NIDO Masters 2019.

Philip Carson from Area 9 team and a current Northern Ireland International came through a tough field of players beating Marty Moreland 6-5 in the final after stemming a come back from Marty who was 5-3 down and forced a decider with some courageous darts. Marty on 191 hit a 159 (T20, T20, T13) to leave 32 and took it out to draw one back.

However Philip held his nerve in the last with some steady scoring starting with a 140 and never looked back.

Philip had wins over Adrian Butch Devine in the quarters and Ricky Dunlop in the semifinals. Whilst Marty had Colin Mcgarry (on live stream) in a last leg decider and Kevin Soupy Campbell in the semi final.

Kayleigh came back from 2-0 down to beat Grace Crane in a great ladies final. Kayleigh had struggled earlier on and complained of drift from the air conditioning. Once it was sorted she powered ahead and won. Well done Kayleigh.

Travis Baur controlled the youth final from the start and again was dominant in the final beating Sean Kearns who seemed like he ran out of stamina in the final. Well done Travis, commiserations to Sean.

Stand out games for you all to check out on the stream via Mcevoy Darts Stream is Davy Glenn vs Nigel Cahoon. Davy with a 90+ average winning by just one leg in a decider. Nigel was pleased with his performance, afterwards he said “I haven’t played like that all season after changing my darts and to stick with Davy playing like that was great for my confidence.”

Had a quick word with men’s winner Philip after the final and he was very happy with his win. His first NIDO major and I was delighted for him, as he has been trying for as many a year. He was last in a major final 17 years ago.

Philip Carson said “To win this, I am over the moon. Myself and Marty had a great final and it’s a shame one of us had to lose. I’ll go and do myself proud in the World Masters qualifying now.”

A great day of darts and run well by Stephen Pinkerton and his team.

The next NIDO major is on the 27th of April.
