Mansell vs Siepmann ET2

Northern Irelands Mickey Mansell takes on a host nation qualifier Steffen Siepmann tonight in Hildesheim Germany.

Mickey Mansell needs no introduction, the man from Tyrone has been playing darts in the PDC for nearly 10 years now winning his original tour card in 2011 and then regaining it after dropping out of the top 64 in 2017. Last year he broke his duck winning a PDC pro tour and has been looking sharp of late in the local competitions. He has played in the euro tours previously and is well experienced.

Mickey’s opponent is Germany’s Steffen Siepmann a 33 year old from Ronnenberg, playing in the PDC code since 2010.

Nicknamed “Sippi”, Siepmann first qualified for a PDC European Tour in 2017, when he reached the third round of the 2017 German Darts Masters by defeating Andrew Gilding and Joe Cullen, before losing to Simon Whitlock. Later in the year he also qualified for the 2017 European Darts Open where he defeated Jermaine Wattimena, before losing to ex BDO world champion Stephen Bunting.

I expect a win from Mickey Mansell tonight, he’s very experienced and should have enough know how to get through this game. The winner plays Hollands Jermaine Wattimena. Jermaine Wattimena is a very fast thrower and wont relish playing Mansell who isn’t slow but a pragmatic and deliberate thrower which can upset rhythm players.

Mickey 2-6 Siepmann. Siepmann went 4-0 up and it was too much to claw back in a first to six. At 5-2 Mickey had 115 left and hit 99 to leave 16, Siepmann came back for 80 and took it out for the win. An out of sorts Mansell in this one.

Good luck to Siepmann.
