Northern Ireland’s Daryl Gurney is back in action this week (Thursday night) and he is in need of a win ideally against his opponent Gerwyn Price.
In Sheffield, he will take on the Welsh fiery dragon Gerwyn Price, hoping to continue his run and making the top four to get to the finals at at the O2 arena in London.
Gerwyn Price himself is in need of a win – well two wins in the last two matches and hope Wade, Suljovic and Gurney slip up. This will be the third game on the night and the one I will be looking forward to the most.
Gurney beat Michael Van Gerwen last week (a Premier League double over MVG) and was in a good mood afterwards:
“I needed to get something out of that game to keep my hopes alive,” said Gurney.
“If I’d lost that game it still wasn’t all over, but I’ve won that game now and if I go in with the same temperament, I can win the next two games.
“To finish in the top four I’ll be a very happy man, but if I didn’t then as long as I matched or beat the points tally of last year I’d still be happy.
“If I didn’t make it, it wouldn’t be heartbreaking. I know I’ve given it a good shot but nobody’s taken a bigger beating than me with a 7-0 and 7-1.
“Hopefully on Thursday, I can get some kind of result and still be in contention for The O2. If I can turn up and pretend that Gerwyn Price is called Michael van Gerwen, I’ll be alright!”
Good luck SuperChin – keep those arrows straight!
