Northern Ireland’s Daryl Gurney takes to the stage again tomorrow night for the PDC Premier League in Liverpool needing a win against a very dangerous player in England’s James Wade.
It’s a very hard match to call the winner to be fair. Last week in Belfast Daryl Gurney was not hitting the treble in his first dart and seemed off in the match against Rob Cross – maybe too much to live up from 2018. James Wade was beat 8-6 by Mensur Suljovic. Mensur was 10 points ahead in the average for most of the game and still James Wade nearly snuck a point.
For this very reason its really hard to ever count James Wade out of a match – his finishing is coming back to where it should be and he can take out any finish in 3 darts clear.
Daryl Gurney needs a win here – he is sitting in 5th spot on 11 points behind James Wade on legs won difference. A win for DG would leapfrog him up above Wade into fourth spot which is where he needs to be for the final four in London.
Daryl had a weekend off at home in Derry whilst James went and won a Pro Tour Championship….so we know who is going to be the confident one Thursday night. So who to go for – James Wade with his consistency or Daryl Gurney with his all or nothing approach. I dont think DG will have two average games in a row and I expect the 180 count to be back up again in this one. Prediction: Daryl Gurney to win 8-6.
